  • Cook Time: 15 mins
  • Total Time: 25 mins

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs top sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • ¼ cup pineapple juice
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • ½ tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ red bell pepper, thinly sliced

  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  2. Place a piece of foil in the air fryer basket. Add sliced peppers and onions to the basket, spray with oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  3. Close the air fryer and cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, add the marinated steak pieces on top of the peppers. Close the air fryer again and cook at 400 degrees for an additional 7 minutes or until the steak reaches your desired level of doneness.

Tips:

  1. Marinating Time: Allow the steak to marinate for the full 4 hours if possible. This ensures that the flavors penetrate the meat, making it more succulent and flavorful.
  2. Meat Slicing: When slicing the steak, ensure it is cut against the grain. This helps in achieving a more tender texture.
  3. Vegetable Prep: Cut the vegetables evenly to ensure they cook uniformly in the air fryer. This ensures a balanced mix of textures and flavors in each bite.
  4. Air Fryer Temperature: Preheat the air fryer before cooking. This ensures that the steak and vegetables start cooking immediately, sealing in their flavours.
  5. Oil Application: When spraying oil on the vegetables, use a cooking oil with a high smoke point such as canola or grapeseed oil. This prevents the oil from burning during the high-temperature air frying process.
  6. Tortilla Heating: Warm the tortillas before serving. You can do this by placing them in the air fryer for a brief moment or on a dry skillet. Warm tortillas are more affordable and enhance the overall eating experience.
  7. Customization: Feel free to customize the fajitas with your favorite toppings. Avocado slices, diced tomatoes, or a squeeze of fresh lime juice can add extra freshness and zing.
  8. Experiment with Spices: If you enjoy a bit more heat, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the marinade for an extra kick.
  9. Double Batch: If you have the space, consider doubling the recipe. Leftover fajitas make for a quick and delicious lunch or dinner the next day.
  10. Serve with a Side: Consider serving the fajitas with a side of Mexican rice, guacamole, or a simple black bean salad to create a well-rounded meal.
  11. Enjoy your cooking!
